This research-backed global program is designed for people living with Parkinson's but benefits anyone with mobility concerns. No dance experience is required - class may be enjoyed seated or standing. Energizing and inspiring live music will guide you as you discover diverse dance styles and practical movement methods that address balance, flexibility, and confidence.
Sing for PD
Mark Morris Dance Center (in-person and online via Zoom)In Sing for PD classes, professional singers share their joy of singing and knowledge acquired through years of training in vocal projection and clear enunciation. Interactive classes focus on breath and rhythm in support of vocalization, and include a choral exploration of Broadway favorites, American standards, and specialized styles.
PD Movement Lab
Mark Morris Dance Center (in-person and online via Zoom)PD Movement Lab classes combine elements of dance and other movement styles to create strategies that help individuals navigate common PD symptoms. Developed by Pamela Quinn, this class focuses on function and physical expression while striving to help students live life to the fullest. Offered in-person and online.
Arts for Collective and Community Health Panel discussion
In what ways do the arts foster belonging, resilience, and healing within communities? Join leading artists, researchers, and lived experience experts in a 3-part series of conversations exploring the intersection of arts and healing, presented as part of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab’s global Healing Arts initiative in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). This conversation will be curated and moderated by Dr. Nisha Sajnani, Assoc. Professor and Director of the NYU Steinhardt Graduate Program in Drama Therapy, Chair of the NYU Creative Arts Therapies Consortium, Co-Director of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab, and co-founder of Healing Arts NYC, a city-wide arts and health network. Dr. Sajnani is an advocate for the arts as a global health resource and leads an international network of researchers dedicated to measurably improving lives through the arts and arts therapies.
