Max Pollak, an Austrian-born virtuoso, is a musician, composer, bandleader, percussive dancer, and educator. He seamlessly blends tap dance, body percussion, and singing into electrifying, singular performances—treating the body as a versatile instrument and an integral voice in any ensemble.
A true genre-buster, Pollak has collaborated worldwide with jazz, classical, and Latin music legends, including Ray Brown, Chucho Valdés, Paquito D’Rivera, Diana Damrau, Rolando Villazon, Zubin Mehta, Los Muñequitos de Matanzas. His dynamic artistry has graced
prestigious venues such as Vienna’s Konzerthaus, the Bavarian State Opera Munich, Zurich’s Tonhalle, National Operas of Amsterdam and Copenhagen, in New York: Lincoln Center, New Victory Theater, Joyce Theater.
Featured on the U.S. Postal Service Forever Stamp honoring tap dance, he also co-created the hit off-Broadway show Carmen – To Havana and Back. The Max Pollak Group has been touring internationally for over 25 years, his debut CD as a leader,
RumbaTap, was released in 2015.
