Dance styles: Guided choreography and improvisation techniques; Explore creative dance expression inspired by visual art using an array of safe directional changes, movement qualities, weight-shifts, rhythm and imagination. Class begins with guided observation and group discussion of several artworks on exhibit and gentle warm-up while listening to descriptive nature journal entries written by watercolorist Charles Burchfield. Participants incorporate elements noticed in the visual art and movement described in the readings, to create unique, individual dance-based interpretations. In solo and ensemble work, experience creative collaboration, joy, and group synergy.

Hosting organization: Burchfield Penney Art Center, in partnership with National Parkinson Foundation, Western New York Chapter. Funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York Legislature; administered by Arts Services Initiative of Western New York.
