Emma Jane Lloyd

Oslo and Oppegård, Norway

Emma Lloyd is a Welsh-born professional ballet dancer, teacher and creative facilitator based in Oslo, Norway. She trained at The Royal Ballet School in London, after which she danced with the Norwegian National Ballet at Den Norske Opera & Ballett for 18 years, following four years with Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden in Germany. During her career, she performed a wide repertoire of classical and contemporary works and worked with internationally renowned choreographers including Jiří Kylián, Christian Spuck, Liam Scarlett, Mats Ek, George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Paul Lightfoot & Sol León, and Alan Lucien Øyen.

Emma retired from professional ballet in 2024 and has since focused her artistic experience on community dance, wellbeing and inclusive practice. She is a co-founder and teacher with Parkinson Danser Oslo, Norway’s first Dance for PD® community at the Norwegian National Ballet & Opera, and led the Parkinson Danser Follo pilot project in 2026.

Emma has also worked as a producer, collaborator and facilitator for Minner om Ballett, an outreach programme of Den Norske Opera & Ballett. The project is an interactive performance experience, bringing excerpts of professional ballet performed by dancers from the Norwegian National Ballet together with storytelling, music and opportunities for audience participation. Designed for age-friendly and dementia settings, the programme creates an accessible and engaging connection between professional ballet and the wider community.

Emma completed her Dance for PD® teacher certification, in July 2026. She has undertaken further specialist training in Dance for Parkinson’s, dance for older people, dementia, dance health and wellbeing, and dance movement psychotherapy.
